About Darby
Darby Briar is the Founder, Director & Lead Educator of The Briar Method, an evidence-informed approach to nervous system regulation, Yoga Nidra, Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR), and contemplative education. Her work brings together more than two decades of community leadership, educational programming, and wellness facilitation with a growing academic focus in neuroscience.
For over twenty-four years, Darby has developed programs that strengthen connection, creativity, resilience, and community well-being. Her leadership experience includes directing school-wide arts education programs, managing wellness organizations, supervising staff, coordinating volunteers, developing community partnerships, and leading fundraising initiatives that have created lasting impact throughout Southern Oregon.
Darby founded Woodland Explorers, a nature-based educational program for the Jacksonville Community Center that continues to serve local families today. She also played a leadership role in fundraising and community advocacy efforts that contributed to the creation of the Joel Tanzi Skatepark, a valued community resource for Jacksonville youth and families.
As a Certified Yoga Nidra Teacher trained through Blooming Lotus Yoga in Bali , Darby is passionate about making evidence-based contemplative practices accessible to diverse populations. Her work is informed by ongoing studies in neuroscience at Southern Oregon University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on the human nervous system and well-being.
As a parent of neurodivergent children, Darby is deeply committed to creating inclusive, compassionate environments where individuals and communities can thrive. Through The Briar Method, she continues to develop educational experiences that bridge science, self-compassion, and practical tools for everyday life.
